From the museum:
Coney Island: Visions of an American Dreamland will be the first major exhibition to use visual art as a lens to explore the lure that Coney Island exerted on American culture over a period of 150 years. An extraordinary array of artists viewed Coney Island as a microcosm of the American experience, from its beginnings as a watering hole for the wealthy, through its transformation into an entertainment mecca for the masses, to the closing of Astroland Amusement Park following decades of urban decline.

I saw this piece at the Brooklyn Museum and fell in love! It's truly wonderful. Do you have prints available?
ReplyDeleteHello, yes we do have prints available. Please email info@mortkunstler.com and someone will assist you :-)
ReplyDeleteHi I was wondering if you can tell me a little more out this piece. I absolutely love it. It reminds me of early mornings in a foreign port after a long night. (I was in the Navy)
ReplyDeleteMort's painting, "Coney Island," was one of his first magazine illustration jobs. It was painted in 1953 to represent the Great Depression Coney Island of the 1930s. Mort has commented about this painting, saying "Although I would do it much differently today, I still like the composition and the feeling of this work."
ReplyDeleteWe have just released the painting as a limited edition print. It is available in various sizes. For more information, please visit our website and search for "Coney Island." Thank you!
